A second-rower, Martin joined the Swinton Lions in 1927. Martin was a member of Swinton’s; 1928 Championship and Challenge Cup victory, 1931 Championship victory, 1932 Challenge Cup Final and 1935 Championship Final. Martin played 427 games for Swinton over 13 seasons (38 tries, 870 goals).
Martin played 29 games for Cumberland from 1927-39 (4 tries, 17 goals). Martin played 9 test matches for England from 1928-37 (10 goals). Martin played 16 test matches for Great Britain from 1929-37 (8 goals).
Martin passed away in 1990.
In 2005, Martin was inducted into the British Hall of Fame.
