A second-rower, Brian joined Brothers (Brisbane) in 1948. Brian was a member of Brothers’; 1955-58 Grand Finals (winning premierships in 1956 and 58). Brian played 11 seasons for Brothers. In 1959, Brian joined the Canterbury Bulldogs. Brian played 59 games for Canterbury over 4 seasons (7 tries, 89 goals). In 1963, Brian joined St George (QLD). In 1964, Brian returned to Brothers for one final season, playing in Brothers’ 1964 Grand Final. Brian played 137 games for Brothers in total (43 tries, 162 goals).

In 1950, Brian played for South Queensland. Brian played 31 matches for Queensland from 1950-58 (8 tries, 14 goals). Brian played 33 test matches for Australia from 1951-58 (5 tries, 7 goals). Brian captained Australia in 1958.

In 2008, Brian was selected as one of Australia’s 100 Greatest Players. In 2008, Brian was selected in the second row in the Queensland Team of the Century. In 2009, Brian was inducted into the Queensland Sport Hall of Fame. In 2018, Brian was inducted into the NRL Hall of Fame.

Brian passed away on November 14 2012.
